Alcatel has won a contract to provide a communication transmission system for serving the 37 stations Mass Rapid Transport railway network in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The network will be delivered through the system integrator, Singapore Technologies Electronics .
Under the terms of this multi million US dollar contract, Alcatel will deploy an SDH backbone network based on its next-generation Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) equipment along the MRT line to flexibly transport the required services, while services are multiplexed at each station utilizing the Alcatel 1511 Business Access Primary Multiplexer. Its main goal is to enhance the efficiency of the MRT network to offer fast and reliable service to Kaohsiung commuters.
