Alcatel has announced that it will launch its mobile Service Level Management solution (SLM) at the coming edition of the 3GSM World Congress. The new solution is designed to enable service providers to deliver high-quality service and satisfaction to their mobile customers.

The SLM solution monitors the quality of service (QoS) as perceived by the subscriber while distributing accurate, real-time information about underlying network performance. It supports an advanced service modeling approach for reconciliation between end users and network perception. The solution helps mobile operators improve their visibility of the QoS, define key quality indicators and measure and analyze any service degradation.

Alcatel’s mobile service level management solution includes a combination of Alcatel’s Service Business Intelligence platform and Micromuse’s Netcool solutions for service assurance of wireless networks and real-time, end-to-end visibility of the end user’s mobile experience. The solution leverages Alcatel’s expertise in QoS improvement programs, including the definition of service quality objectives and the building of associated metrics.

‘A service level management solution needs to be both ‘user centric’ to monitor the quality as perceived by the individual subscriber, and ‘end-to-end’ to correlate the information flow from the end user throughout the network,’ said Frederic Rose, President of Alcatel’s integration and services activities. ‘At this condition only, it will allow service providers to improve operational efficiency, gain greater control over service quality, reduce churn and gain market share through improved customer service. Alcatel’s solution meets all of these criteria.’
