France Telecom announced that its residential Voice over IP services, running on Netcentrex solutions, have exceeded 1 million lines in commercial service across 5 countries at the end of 2005: France, UK, Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

On the release note, it is explained that the initial installation in 2004 was completed in less than 5 months thanks to strong collaboration between Netcentrex technical teams and France Telecom’s R&D and Network division. Today, after 18 months of service, the deployment rate exceeds 150,000 new subscribers every month across Europe.

‘Netcentrex’ application server is a key platform for France Telecom’s VOIP services’ said Vincent Lobry, Director of Residential Communication Services. ‘Our goal is to encourage use of the fixed network, by developing new services designed to boost customer loyalty, based on abundance, simplicity and transparency .’

‘The 1 million line milestone was made possible by a highly efficient and automated provisioning system, currently activating more than 5,000 new subscribers per day’, said Olivier Hersent, Chairman of Netcentrex. ‘France Telecom is a technical and market visionary, known for introducing creative services in highly competitive environments. We will continue to assist them with differentiation and end-user value, while leveraging their existing investment in Netcentrex technology’.
