The Finnish paper company UPM-Kymmene Oyj has commissioned Siemens Business Services to provide shared IT-infrastructure services and user support for all UPMs 30.000 employees. The multinational outsourcing contract is valid for five years.
UPM’s main products include printing papers, converting materials and wood products. The company has production plants in 15 countries and its main market areas are Europe and North America.
Siemens Business Services will operate and monitor UPM’s data center and provide storage and back up solutions as well as a user helpdesk which employees can phone up to request help with PC problems. As part of the deal 37 employees in Finland, Germany and the USA will be transferred from UPM to Siemens Business Services. By outsourcing these IT services, UPM aims to improve cost efficiency and enhance service delivery.
