The UK supplier of communications services to the public and private sectors, ntl:Telewest Business, launched a new IP Multimedia service based on Nortel technology. The new service integrates the benefits of video and voice calls, voicemail, e-mail and presence-based instant messaging into a real-time collaborative work environment that makes it simple for people to communicate in the office, at home or on the road.

«Communicating with colleagues and customers more efficiently and effectively is vital for business productivity and competitiveness», said Stephen Beynon, managing director, ntl:Telewest Business. «By partnering with Nortel we were able to draw on its experience in real-time collaborative communications environments to develop and deliver the IP Multimedia Service we’re launching today».

The Nortel solution for ntl:Telewest Business includes the Communication Server 2000 carrier VoIP superclass softswitch, and the Nortel Multimedia Communication Server 5200 – which seamlessly integrates voice with video, collaboration, and presence services. This solution enables service providers to deliver hosted multimedia communications services and Unified Messaging services to create new revenue-generating opportunities.

As well as technology, Nortel is supporting ntl:Telewest Business with service launch tools such as collateral and sales training. This support is provided under the Nortel MarketForce programme, a global co-marketing business planning service focused on helping service providers win new customers and drive revenue growth.
