Ericsson and Norwegian operator Telenor have signed a global frame agreement for the supply of microwave transmission solutions. The two year contract is an expansion of the existing partnership and covers all majority-owned Telenor group affiliates worldwide.

Under the contract, Ericsson will supply Telenor with its suite of MINI-LINK and Marconi branded point-to-point microwave transmission products. These include high-capacity radios, smart traffic nodes and both long- and short-haul systems.

As well as being the largest provider of fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Norway, Telenor has substantial international mobile operations. The Ericsson microwave transmission portfolio contribute to enabling the operator to serve this variety of needs with solutions that deliver cost-efficient coverage, high capacity for fixed and mobile broadband, and highly competitive ‘second-mile’ backhaul solutions.

Sivert Bergman, Head of Broadband Networks at Ericsson, says that «this new agreement confirms our position as a major partner to Telenor globally, and takes our business relationship a step forward. With our strong product portfolio and our market and customer knowledge, we can meet any capacity and reliability requirements, quickly and efficiently».
