791 — Touring Club Switzerland launches voice-enabled traffic information system

Aug 26, 2003 | Conteúdos Em Ingles

Touring Club Switzerland has recently launched a service for motorists travelling on Switzerland’s national and regional roads: by dialling the number 163, they now have access to the latest traffic information in German, French and Italian, Switzerland‘s three official languages. This traffic information service enables motorists to plan their travel route, find out about traffic jams and road works, and monitor the situation on mountain passes. The service, developed by Swiss provider of IT- and voice solutions, Sigma, is hosted on Voxpilot’s pan-European VoiceXML gateway.

“With this service, TCS meets motorists’ demands for a more convenient delivery of up-to-date traffic information,” says Daniel Zürcher, managing director of Sigma. “You don’t have to rely on the radio to get traffic news, you simply pick up the phone and navigate through a simple menu in order to obtain the information you need.”

“Our partner Sigma has created a traffic service that is currently used by thousands of Swiss motorists every day’ adds Dr. Jon Alcantara, CEO of Voxpilot. ‘Traffic information is entered in a database and is immediately accessible over the phone in three different languages – thanks to the latest voice technologies.”

Sigma and Voxpilot have been collaborating on numerous projects to bring multilingual voice-enabled and IVR-services to Swiss telephone users.
