881 — Nokia ships 3660 and 3620

Nokia is now introducing the Nokia 3660 and Nokia 3620 aimed at expanding the company’s imaging portfolio and to reach a wider consumer segment. In addition to an integrated VGA camera for still picture and video capture, a video player and multimedia messaging (MMS) functionality, the Nokia 3660 and Nokia 3620 feature a 65,500 colour display, a styled key mat design, and a new range of Xpress-on covers.

“The Nokia 3660 and Nokia 3620 adhere to the innovative design of their ground-breaking predecessor with a new stylish key mat design, offering consumers the ability to instantly share a moment with ease and style,” said Juha Putkiranta, senior vice president, Imaging Business Unit, Nokia Mobile Phones. ‘Exchanging holiday season images or video clips will never be the same. Sharing precious moments between family and friends is but a few clicks away.’

Other features include polyphonic ringtones (supporting up to 128 instruments and 24 chord polyphony), e-mail (SMTP, IMAP4, POP3), Bluetooth wireless technology, PIM (calendar, phonebook, to-do list), Infrared, PC Suite SyncML, 16 MB memory card with additional applications.

The tri-band Nokia 3660 (GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900) is primarily for the European, Middle-East and Asia Pacific markets while the Nokia 3620 (GSM/GPRS 850/1900) phone is primarily for the Americas. Shipping is expected to begin during the fourth quarter of 2003.
