Operator mobilkom austria has awarded Ericsson an end-to-end Service Assurance contract. The customized solution from Ericsson makes it possible for the operator to have one focal point for monitoring network and application performance.

Ericsson’s Service Assurance solution delivered to mobilkom austria includes integration services, processes and the management of software tools, supporting multi-vendor, multi-technology and multi-service network environments in open standards. The solution measures performance in for example terms of run-time and failure percentage and compares it with service level objectives.

“Having a partner like Ericsson, with competence and outstanding track record in handling complex system environments is very important for us,” says Fritz Klinger, Head of Division Operation and Maintenance, mobilkom austria. “Ericsson’s Service Assurance solution guarantees first class quality services to our subscribers and allows
us to devote more resources to the business side of our operations.”

On September 25, 2002, mobilkom austria launched Europe’s first
national UMTS network. Right now, UMTS is only available to a small group of experts. The network of mobilkom austria is ready for the commercial UMTS mobile phones, which the manufactures will be putting on the market in the first half of 2003. mobilkom austria sets off into the UMTS era with exclusive cooperation arrangements and top content partners. The Service Assurance solution from Ericsson is designed for mobilkom austria group’s (mobilkom austria, VIPnet, Croatia and Si.mobil, Slovenia and mobilkom Liechtenstein) own services as well as the performance from external content providers.

“We are pleased to support mobilkom austria with efficient
integration services, supporting network management and Service
Assurance solutions. It is strategically important to their business as it enables them to offer a better quality of service to end-users and also reduces cost”, says Karl-Henrik Sundström, head of Global Services, Ericsson.
