Dimension Data announced the appointment of Bruce MacLeod as chief executive of Merchants, the Dimension Data Group’s customer contact centre services business. Bruce will focus on leading the development and expansion of the company’s existing portfolio of contact centre operations in the UK and South Africa.

“I am delighted to be joining the Dimension Data group at a time when it is well positioned to capitalise on a growing number of opportunities. Merchants’ 22-year legacy of building and operating contact centres combined with Dimension Data’s worldwide footprint bring a unique capabilities set to the marketplace and I relish the opportunity of building the Merchants contact centre operations into a significant global business,” commented Bruce MacLeod.

Bruce MacLeod has extensive knowledge of the contact centre marketplace and joins Dimension Data from Telecom Services Centres (TSC), a top five contact centre outsourcing business, where he held the position of chief executive. Prior to this, Bruce was managing director at Ventura Customer Service Management, the UK’s second largest outsourcer of customer services with a turnover exceeding £100m.

Bruce also brings industry sector experience to Merchants from previous roles as commercial director at Cellhire, a Vodafone service provider, and managing director of Lloyds Bank Offshore Islands, the bank’s primary offshore operations. Bruce will be based primarily at Merchants UK headquarters in Milton Keynes and will work very closely with Dimension Data’s established global Customer Interactive Solutions division, which delivers integrated technology solutions to the contact centre marketplace.

Dimension Data employs 2000 people worldwide in its Merchants customer contact centre services business. The Group’s contact centre locations include its award-winning operations in Cork Ireland, Kilmarnock in Scotland and Milton Keynes in the UK and sites in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa. Its clients range from National Australia Group, a large multinational financial organisation to Unilever, the global blue-chip consumer brand.
