MetaSolv Software announced that Portuguese operator Oni has deployed MetaSolv’s activation platform to activate VoIP services for its customers.

On the release note, MetaSolv says that this implementation has allowed Oni to bundle and offer new services more rapidly, including OniDuo, an unbundled local loop or wholesale offering providing integrated VoIP, Broadband and E-services such as e-mail and web hosting, and Digital Power Line, which provides services over an electrical power line.

“Our customers don’t want technology, they want service. MetaSolv Service Activation allows us to virtualise the always changing, always evolving technology in an effective and efficient way,” said Miguel Allen Lima, Director of Information Systems for OniTelecom .

The MetaSolv solution activates several technologies in the network including Sonus VoIP equipment, intelligent network and Class 5 elements from Ericsson, calling card and Radius server platforms, etc. In addition, Oni has developed a web-services based activation portal to support additional activation needs.

“Our powerful activation capabilities continue to win customers for MetaSolv, as well as build recognition throughout the communications industry, as demonstrated by our recent ranking as number one in Service Activation in the Heavy Reading 2005 OSS Market Perception Study,” noted David Sharpley, senior vice president, marketing and product management, MetaSolv. “We are pleased to provide the functionality that has enabled customers like Oni to provide new services, increase revenues, and enhance customer loyalty
