Intel Corporation has appointed Abhi Y. Talwalkar as Vice President and General Manager of its Enterprise Platforms Group. At the age of 40 he replaces Mike Fister, Senior Vice President, who is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity.
Talwalkar served, most recently, as Vice President at Enterprise Platforms Group, and General Manager at Platform Products Group. In this role, he was responsible for developing, marketing and supporting building blocks for enterprise computing, including the design of processors, chipsets and platforms for workstations and servers.
Prior to joining Intel in 1993, he held senior engineering and management positions at Sequent Computer Systems (now part of IBM), Bipolar Integrated Incorporated and Lattice Semiconductor, Inc. Talwalkar was born in Pune, India, in 1965. He received his bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from Oregon State University in 1985.
