Patricia Russo, Chairman and CEO of Lucent Technologies, has been named Vice Chairman for the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee , which provides industry-based analyses and recommendations to the American President, regarding policy affecting national security and emergency preparedness (NS/EP) telecommunications. This Committee comprises 30 industry leaders.

 

Russo was appointed Lucent´s Chairman in February 2003, folowing a 20 years career managing some of Lucent’s and AT&T’s largest divisions and most critical corporate functions. Nowadays, is also a member of the board of Schering-Plough Corporation and Georgetown University, and member of the Network Reliability Interoperability Council. Russo role´s in NSTAC will include assisting the government in the development of infrastructure protection policy and national strategy; assessing research and development issues related to network security technologies and vulnerabilities; and identifying legislative and regulatory matters that potentially impact NS/EP telecommunications.

Patricia Russo graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University in 1989 and received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Georgetown University in Washington. More recently, received an honorary doctorate in Entrepreneurial Studies from Columbia College in South Carolina, as well as an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.
