About 500 call centre jobs are being created in Glasgow by the company RHL. The Scottish Executive is offering a £1.8m grant to RHL to help support the project.

RHL is owned by entrepreneur and Rangers FC honorary chairman David Murray with an annual turnover of £46m.

Chief executive David Wallace said it was an ‘exciting time’ for the company and the recruitment drive would help it strengthen its market share. Mr Wallace welcomed the executive’s Regional Selective Assistance grant and said it enabled RHL to develop at a ‘significant pace’.

«The funding will allow us to strengthen our existing market proposition, create 500 jobs in Scotland in line with our new business strategy and help us to further develop our customer contact centre sites Mr Wallace said.

«In addition, the funding will help in the continuing development of our 2,500 staff as we create an industry leading employee Training Academy ».

RHL’s clients include Sky, ScottishPower and the Student Loans Company.
