Siemens mobile communication group has been chosen by the Italian telecom operator Wind, as one of its 3G/UMTS network. The value of this contract surpasses 300 million Euros. With this announcement Siemens counts tree 3G/UMTS contracts in Italy and thirty worldwide.
Under the terms of this agreement, Siemens role is to supply and install 3G/UMTS network infrastructure and radio base stations, and optimise Winds existing mobile network and replace some of its present equipment. Siemens has announced that the first phase of the agreement will run for three years.
