1320 — Cisco launches Metropolitan Mobile Network

Cisco Systems has released, under the name of Metropolitan Mobile Network, a standards-based solution to provide broadband wireless access across a city to public sector agencies such as city, state and federal agencies, public safety, transportation and public works.
 

This end-to-end solution consists of Cisco Aironet Series of Wi-Fi outdoor infrastructure and Cisco 3200 Series Routers with the new integrated Wireless Mobile Interface Card that supports IEEE 802.11b/g for wireless local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) access. According to Cisco this features will address the demand of public sector agencies for real-time, mobile access to key applications and tools, that may ultimately lead to the increased productivity and responsiveness of city personnel.

Cisco has made publicly known that its 3200 Series Wireless and Mobile Router configured with IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless Mobile Interface Card is available now and configurations start at a U.S. list price of $3,650. While Cisco’s Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor AP/Bridge has a U.S. list price of $1,299. and Cisco’s Aironet 1400 Series Outdoor Wireless Bridge has a U.S. list price of $1,499.
