1376 — Changes at Cisco’s Technology Organization

Cisco Systems has named Charles H. Giancarlo to the position of Chief Technology Officer. This appointment is part of Cisco’s changing process, under Mario Mazzola ruling as Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer.

In the new post, Giancarlo will be responsible for contributing to and communicating Cisco’s technology strategy. In addition, he will assume responsibility for the Global Government Solutions Group, while continuing to lead Cisco’s voice and home networking businesses and serving as President of Cisco-Linksys, LLC.

Giancarlo holds an M.B.A. from Harvard and M.S. and B.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and Brown University, respectively. He has enrolled at Cisco in December 1994, following the acquisition of Kalpana. As Cisco’s Chief Technology Officer, he will report to John Chambers, President and CEO.
