The supplier of media processing, network interface, call control and signal processing products, Brooktrout Technology, has announced that CBOSS Association, an international provider of IT services for the telecommunications industry, has selected its NS700(tm) SS7 platform as an integral part of its CBOSS Short Message Service (SMS) Centre platform.

The Company says the messaging platform is being installed as part of MTS’s regional network in Krasnodar Territory. MTS is the largest mobile operator in Russia and the Ukraine with more than 22 million subscribers and 37% market share. Brooktrout’s SS7 platform will enable MTS to upgrade their existing SMSC to support a significantly higher message volume.

The CBOSS SMS Centre is a high performance short messaging solution that supports basic messaging services as well as a number of value-added services, such as pull/push messaging, email forwarding and SMS paging. On the release note, Brooktrout explains that CBOSS deployed the SMS Service Centre to allow the network operator to send and sustain a high volume of message throughput. The SMS Centre is highly scalable and can cope with peak loads amounting to 250 messages per second.

The outstanding performance in the MTS regional networks was achieved with Brooktrout’s NS700 SS7 module in the SMS server system. The high performance characteristics of the NS700 and its suitability for a wide range of applications allowed us to install the solution quickly and easily, ” said Mikhail Hametov, head of CBOSS Implementation Department .
