Alcatel has announced that Romania’s cable operator, RCS&RDS Group, is complementing its offerings with digital voice services using Alcatel’s voice switching solution. This will enable RCS&RDS to easily migrate to a packet technology in order to deliver next-generation services as part of it’s network migration plans.

The Company informs it has deployed the Alcatel 1000 voice switching system in Romania’s capital, Bucharest. Through more than 100 interconnections with the incumbent operator’s voice network, RCS&RDS already launched voice services to its Internet, data and cable TV subscribers.

The Alcatel offer is said to help carriers reduce capital and operating expenses and can be easily migrated towards a converged packet infrastructure enabling enhanced asset productivity and the opportunity to increase revenues by launching new innovative services.

As the largest and most important triple play operator in Romania with coverage for the entire country and a significant subscriber base, both business and residential, we are always looking for ways to enhance our relationship with our customers through improved and expanded service offerings“, said Alexandru Oprea, RCS&RDS general manager.
