Vodafone and O2 Germany will be able to use both network operators’ WLAN hotspots throughout Germany, according to a recent roaming agreement. Customers conveniently pay their respective network operator’s WLAN charges via their own mobile phone invoice. An additional roaming fee is not charged.

Vodafone D2 GmbH’s more than 330 hotspots which are covered by the agreement include Accor and Dorint hotels as well as numerous Lufthansa lounges and airport areas. To these are added O2’s approximately 300 hotspots. These are the hotspots operated by O2’s partner GlobalAirnetAG, which comprises numerous hotels run by the Marriott Group, Swissôtel and Best Western.

The release note, refers that this is the first WLAN roaming agreement concluded by two mobile radio operators and underlines the significance of this supplementary technology. This open approach to roaming is said to enable the customer to make use of a nationwide hotspot offering and thereby benefit from a uniform registration process as well as the familiar products and prices offered by his network operator.
