Orange France, the largest French wireless operator, announced that it is to deploy a SMS-to-Voice Solution delivered by HP Consulting & Integration France jointly with Bogen’s Speech Design subsidiary. SMS-to-Voice enables SMS messages, previously only viewable on a mobile phone’s screen, to be received by traditional fixed-line telephones.
A SMS sent to a fixed-line subscriber is detected within the GSM network and routed to the SMS-to-Voice Thor platform, which calls the destination phone number and reads the message by using TTS (Text to Speech) technology.
Speech Design’s unique SMS-to-Voice solution increases the SMS revenue of any mobile operator by enlarging the access base to additional end users with a seamless introduction of the service in the existing infrastructure.
