ScanSoft announced the immediate availability of ScanSoft VoiceRequest 2.0, the new release of its corporate voice dialling application, which allows users to have their calls automatically routed simply by speaking. ScanSoft VoiceRequest is a Microsoft Windows application that adds automatic voice-activated dialling to existing private branch exchange (PBX) phone systems, providing call routing to corporate, academic and government organisations. Its new features include support for Intel Dialogic JCT Series voice boards, new remote system management tools and a multi-site database replication tool.

VoiceRequest 2.0 aims at overcoming limitations found in historical corporate voice dialling (CVD) products- limitations that have relegated their use mainly to very large organisations. It also enhances service by connecting calls more quickly than manual systems, reducing hold times. When used internally to automatically connect co-workers, the system eliminates the time and hassle of looking up extensions.

“Our depth of technologies and broad industry partnerships place ScanSoft in a unique position to overcome the historical limitations associated with corporate voice dialing applications, especially in the areas of acquisition and ownership costs,” said Robert Weideman, chief marketing officer for ScanSoft. “VoiceRequest 2.0 is revolutionary in that it implements a mix of licensing, reliability and feature enhancements to deliver the best return on investment possible.”

ScanSoft has also added support for Intel Dialogic JCT series voice telephony boards running under Microsoft Windows NT/2000, which delivers cost-per-line hardware capabilities for large PBX environments.

ScanSoft is also reducing the time needed to deploy and customize CVD deployments through the release of VoiceRequest 2.0 by integrating the industry’s largest names lexicon within its system, and by using ScanSoft SpeechPearl as its automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine.

SpeechPearl has the ability to scale to understand more than two million names, and can automatically adapt its understanding to include variations in the way words and names are pronounced.

In addition, ScanSoft has integrated ScanSoft RealSpeak text-to-speech (TTS) engine into VoiceRequest 2.0. RealSpeak provides the system with human-sounding synthesized speech, which is used whenever a name or prompt has not been professionally recorded.
