Ericsson has just released the new Dialog 4000 IP telephone series. The new line-up includes a range of digital and IP business telephones and accessories for use with the company’s MD110, MD Evolution, and BusinessPhone communication systems. The new phone range includes the Dialog 4425 IP Vision, an advanced IP telephone featuring support for full-duplex hands-free speaking with acoustic echo cancellation.

“Our aim in creating these new phones is to provide our customers with a range of ‘timeless classics’ that will contribute to their business success today and well into the future,” said Gunnar Wranne, vice-president of Ericsson Enterprise.

“All our studies show that excellent ergonomics, voice quality and ease of use are key contributors to user satisfaction and productivity in the enterprise. The Dialog 4000 family provides all this, together with long-term ROI thanks to the ability to upgrade the phones’ software remotely as new functionality is introduced. This phone generation is also ecologically sound in its design – an increasingly important issue both for us and our customers,” he added.

The Dialog 4425 IP Vision has a built-in two-port Ethernet switch, which enables a single LAN switch port to be used for both the phone and a PC. It also has an integrated Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) browser, and offers simple phone configuration and updating of the local phone book, for example, through a Web-browser using its integrated Web server support.

Four initial releases

There are initially four digital phones in the Dialog 4000 range – the Dialog 4220 Lite, Dialog 4222 Office, Dialog 4223 Professional and Dialog 4224 Operator – offering various levels of functionality to suit different user types. An additional telephone – the Dialog 4225 Vision, intended for high-use and executive users, will be introduced for MD110 systems later this year.

All phones have acoustic shock protection and support for hearing aid equipment. With the exception of the Dialog 4220 Lite, all phones offer a LCD graphical display and a built-in headset port. The advanced hands-free speaking function featured on the Dialog 4425 IP Vision is also offered on the Dialog 4223 Professional, the Dialog 4224 Operator (when used with BusinessPhone systems) and the forthcoming Dialog 4225 Vision.

The phones’ functionality can be kept up to date over the long term with straightforward software upgrades – available with forthcoming releases of the communication systems MD110 and BusinessPhone – direct from the Web in the case of the Dialog 4425 IP Vision.
