Aug 8, 2003 | Conteúdos Em Ingles

Next year’s edition of CeBIT will focus on public sector administration. The show organiser, Deutsche Messe AG, has created a separate display category (“Public Sector Parc”) for this target audience. Subtitled “European ICT Solutions for Business and Government” and located in Hall 11, the “Public Sector Parc” represents an extension of the established “enac” presentation. CeBIT 2004 will take place from Thursday 18 until Wednesday 24 March – a seven-day-show instead of eight last year.

The “Public Sector Parc” will focus on IT solutions, services and projects in the area of e-government. In recent years this market segment has experienced strong growth and evoked increased interest on the part of exhibitors and visitors.

Otto Schily, the German Minister of the Interior, will act as patron of the “Public Sector Parc”. Speaking at CeBIT 2003, Mr. Schily demanded an end to stand-alone solutions in the area of public sector administration. He emphasized that Germany needs to overcome its parochialism if it is to remain at the cutting edge of IT developments.

At CeBIT 2004 the Ministry of the Interior will present its “Germany Online” strategy, which is being realised in cooperation with the German federal states. The “Public Sector Parc” will provide a platform for information and communication for national, regional and local government bodies, as well as IT companies facing the challenge of delivery of public services and pruning back bureaucracy.

The “Public Sector Parc” will also highlight the e-government initiatives of the new EU member states. A different programme of presentations and lectures will take place every day during CeBIT 2004. The spotlight here will be on projects currently being realised by ICT companies and public-sector organisations.

The line-up at the “Public Sector Parc” will include the following:

· E-government solutions, mobile government
· Security, digital signatures
