Rhetorical, a Scottish developer of text to speech technology is to host the world’s first Text-to-Speech Conference, TTS World, in Edinburgh from September 3-5. The event brings together designers, programmers and users from some of the world’s major companies under one roof. The conference will explore the development of speech technology and how advanced text-to-speech has become a standard technology for many commercial applications, including call centres, speech based news services and viral marketing.

“Scotland has always been a centre for innovation on speech technology so it seems only right to hold the first ever TTS conference in Edinburgh. Delegates are flying in from the US and as far away as New Zealand; this conference really puts Edinburgh on the map for speech technology development and is great news for the Scottish technology industry,” Rhetorical CEO Marc Moens commented.

“We decided to organise this conference to give a boost to the speech technology development industry in the UK. At TTS World we will be encouraging others to follow our lead, discussing how different speech technologies can be brought closer together and sharing ideas of future standards and development,” he ended.

Attendees include the top players in speech technology, including Nortel, IBM, VoiceGenie and HeyAnita.
